I’m a 25-year-old entrepreneur who left the corporate life behind when I graduated university and decided to dive into my own business. I own a fitness lifestyle apparel brand that allows athletes to give back with a portion of every sale going towards providing access to clean water in developing countries. About six years ago I had back surgery on my L4 & L5 disk. At the time, I was a runner. I used to run a lot, I loved running, but that is all I did. I did not lift a weight in my life. I never did core exercises. I did not do any hip strengthening. Nothing like that. I just ran and it lead to me having back surgery. I do not know if that is the reason why I had back surgery, was running, but I believe it differently played a role in it. After back surgery, I was able to bounce back pretty fast.

I have a cookbook coming out with my daughter called, “Black Girls Gone Vegan”. I am 66 years old, a mother of five children, and owner of Gymnetics Fitness. My love of fitness has also assisted me in creating fitness videos that target African American Women of all ages. The Ectorcise videos incorporate men along with women exercising together. The focus on African American women was something we needed because we were not included in the fitness industry. I wanted an exercise video that showcased women of color, women that look like myself and women with curves working out.
