What Is HIIT, And What’s All The Fuss?

HIIT, or High-Intensity Interval Training, is one of the top fitness trends of 2017. Why is it so hot right now?

The main reasons? It’s efficient, you don’t need equipment, and it’s very effective.

Efficient – HIIT is a great way to eviscerate fat and burn a large number of calories while only putting in minutes of work for each workout. When comparing to traditional workouts, like running, HIIT is proven to maximize the afterburn effect. The idea of doing a few (5-15 minutes) of very high intensity, usually full body, training.

No Equipment – You can start doing HIIT workouts without any equipment! Better yet, Atlas has many HIIT routines to get you started. Usually, HIIT workouts are divided into multiple duration based exercises of activities like squats, lunges, burpees, jumping jacks, or high knees. This means you no longer have any excuses–you can workout anywhere.

Effective – During your workout you’ll quickly get your heart rate to its maximum zone and maintain that intensity for the duration. The result is up to 24 hours of what we call “afterburn”–your body burning up to 200-400 calories after your workout is complete.

So go on and try one out – See if you can beat our own Mike’s records!
